Military Service Rifle Competition 2007

Introduction

The fifth annual ORPC Military Service Rifle Competition was held on Saturday 24 November 2007 at the Barnwell range. This event was open to any ‘as-issued’ service rifle designed and built up to 1955. We were extremely pleased to see 12 competitors on the firing point to shoot this popular 40 round match.

The emphasis this year was, as always, about safety + fun, with several shooters entering this type of full-bore rifle competition for the very first time. There were of course, the usual experiences of fumbled rounds and stripper clips that would not function during the rapid-fire stages, but this is all part of learning curve when shooting competitions under time pressure!

Congratulations to Graham A. who scooped the ORPC shield this year with his SMLE – well done!
